Dear DreamUp community,
There is no shortage of news about the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic. With cases in nearly every country and in every state in the United States, our staff is grappling with the effects of this virus alongside you. We’re fortunate to be in an industry where much of our work can continue from home while we practice social distancing. For customers with payloads on the International Space Station, operations are continuing, and some former Space Station astronauts even shared a few words of advice on how to handle social distancing. If you have any questions about how COVID-19 may impact a current contract or current business with DreamUp, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Meanwhile, around the globe, students are staying home from schools and teachers are rapidly adapting, rushing to create eLearning programs so that academic progress can remain on target. In this difficult time, we’d like to share a number of resources and products we offer to help teachers and parents:
- STEM Activities to teach space science concepts at home. Astronaut in a Bottle and Water Tube in particular use items that you might already have around the house.
- Downloadable (and free!) NGSS-aligned curricula that’s easily adapted to a virtual learning or home setting.
- Germs in Space, our DreamKit linking learners on Earth with science conducted on the International Space Station now available for 30% by entering the discount “HOME30” at checkout on our website.
Our Germs in Space DreamKit, in particular, is an excellent opportunity to transform the current CDC guidance on handwashing and hygiene into a microbiology lesson. With our Germs in Space Educator Lesson Plan, the Germs in Space DreamKit learning experience is enhanced as students become part of a “Biohazards Task Force” that must implement protocols to reduce contaminants around their home. To make this more accessible, we’ve deeply discounted the lesson plan by 50% when you enter the discount code, “TEACH50” at checkout.
We hope these resources can be some help during this challenging time. In the meantime, stay tuned for more updates as we adapt and iterate to bring you the best space education opportunities possible.
Sincerely,
Allen Herbert
